We are experienced in the specific techniques and materials required to restore buildings to their original specification and make the final structure look as good as it did on the day it was finished.

Traditional Stonemasonry

Our specialised operations combine modern technologies with traditional craftsmanship and materials, and our workmen are highly experienced in all aspects of stonework. Our operatives are all trained to NVQ level 3 in stonemasonry at York College and carry Heritage CSCS Gold cards. We have longstanding relationships with numerous quarries throughout the country enabling us to offer the widest range of materials to suit our clients' needs.

Mortar Restoration

Where replacement units are not possible due to restrictions, or deemed to be too expensive, then stone restoration is a quick, simple, cost-effective way to restore weathered or defective units. Our highly skilled restorers are capable of carrying out the most intricate of details including tracery sections to windows as well as reforming sections to statues. We have developed restoration mixes over the last 25 years to suits all types of stone ensuring that each repair closely matches the surrounding stone in strength, colour.

Repointing

Stone Central regularly carry out repointing work on historic restoration projects where the existing mortar has become defective over time. We take samples of existing mortars and then create our own mix to ensure that we have a seamless match to the rest of the building. We are able to provide this service for more intricate work such as terracotta when used for elements such as Barley Twist chimney pots.

Restoration & Conservation

We are extremely proud to have worked on a huge range of restoration and conservation projects. We are experienced at working with heritage conservation architects as well as Historic England and Local Authorities. Our experience and skill allows us to offer a full service from planning to completion on restoration projects. We have worked on large building restoration as well as several listed bridges and viaducts. Bringing these buildings and services back to their former glory for them to be enjoyed for many years to come is an incredibly satisfying element of the work we do.
