Stone Central were contracted to complete works within a wider regeneration scheme of the Lord Street area in Southport. This work included restoring two stone obelisks, the cenotaph and surrounding gardens.
Project Detail
The stonework included cutting out and indenting decorative fluting on columns and cleaning and restoring them. We also re-cut by hand the lettering on the memorials to restore them to their former glory. This was a great project and a real privilege to work on, it is incredibly rewarding to work on projects that have such significant meaning for the community. The area is a focal point for the people of Southport as well as visitors to area, and their reception to the work undertaken was overwhelmingly positive.
The memorials will look in excellent condition for many years to come.
