Stone Central were brought in to address the graffiti problem at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which is the highest and longest aqueduct in Britain, which has been named the most captivating UNESCO World Heritage Site in the world.
Project Detail
The stunning aqueduct allows the Llangollen canal to cross the River Dee. It is made up of 19 cast iron spans and stands 126 feet high. This masterpiece of engineering was granted World Heritage status in 2009.
Stone Central were brought in to remove graffiti from the structure which was marring the appearance. Our staff are all trained to work at height via ropes which allows us to access areas like this which would otherwise be too difficult to reach.
Working alongside the waterway mean there were additional environmental considerations to minimise any disruption or pollution to the area. We used pressured heated steam to clean the graffiti from the aqueduct, which meant that it satisfied all environmental requirements. The area was thoroughly cleaned of any graffiti and the original stonework preserved.
