STONEMASONRY RESTORATION CLEANING CONSULTANCY Memorials & Statues NEW BUILD RAILWAYS SURVEYS TERRACOTTAThis project involved the restoration and re-purposing of the Grade II listed Town Hall in Oldham into a vibrant new cinema and leisure complex.
The Grade II listed building was constructed in 1841 and had been home to the headquarters of the Borough of Oldham until 1977. The building has stood empty and largely neglected for many years and it fell into a serious state of disrepair. The council then made the decision to save and restore the building which ensured that certain architectural features and decorations were retained.
We were appointed to help revive and restore the Town Hall to its former glory, under the watchful eye of Historic England, we were able to ensure that the important sections of the building stayed intact. Using cherry pickers, we conducted a full external survey to plan the works.
Our team them got to work deconstructing sections of the building stone by stone, retaining the original stone to be reused. We also removed and restored part of the damaged parapet and key architectural features to bring the building back to its former beauty.
